A Minnesota Lakeside Wedding

The Sandman Wedding was truly one of those days that reminds me why I’m so obsessed with lake weddings. If I’m being honest, I could happily photograph a lake wedding every single weekend, especially in Minnesota. There’s just something about the water, the light, and the relaxed elegance that makes everything feel extra special.

This stunning celebration took place on the bride’s family lake property near Detroit Lakes, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable summer wedding day.

The reception featured a gorgeous sailcloth tent that completely transformed the lakeside property. One of my favorite details was the floral installation hanging from the ceiling, it added so much softness and romance to the space while still feeling elevated and intentional.

Every floral detail throughout the day was beautifully designed by Love Always Floral. From the ceremony hydrangeas to the reception arrangements, each piece felt timeless, lush, and perfectly suited for a Minnesota lake wedding.

The ceremony itself was absolutely stunning. The floral pieces framing the couple were incredible, and the lakeside setting made the entire moment feel intimate and heartfelt. One of the most memorable touches was the paddle toss at the end of the ceremony, a fun, personal nod that fit the lake setting perfectly and made for amazing photos.

What truly set the Sandman Wedding apart was the level of customization throughout the entire day. Instead of traditional wedding favors, guests received custom hats, which was such a cool and unique idea, and something people will actually wear again.

The couple also had a fully custom photo booth, complete with their own logo and personalized design elements. Every detail felt thoughtfully curated, cohesive, and uniquely them.

After the ceremony, we captured some fun cannon confetti moments with the couple’s vintage car. The oversized bow on the back of the car was such a sweet, classic touch and photographed beautifully against the lakeside scenery.

To top it all off, the night ended with fireworks over the lake, an incredible finale and the perfect way to celebrate a July wedding in Minnesota. It was one of those moments that felt magical in real time and even more special looking back.

From the sailcloth tent and lush florals to the custom details and lakeside fireworks, the Sandman Wedding was nothing short of unforgettable.
